Short-Term Scientific Missions
Short-Term Scientific Missions, commonly referred to as STSMs, represent a dynamic and collaborative exchange program integral to COST Actions.
As stated by the COST Association, Short-term Scientific Missions (STSMs) are exchange visits for researchers within the COST Action they are a member, such as the COST Action CA22115 “PhraConRep.” STSMs are opportunities for researchers to share techniques and gain skills that may not be available at their home institution.
STSMs serve as a platform for scientists and innovators to immerse themselves in a different cultural and scientific environment. By visiting a host institution or laboratory in a participating COST Member state, these researchers have the unique opportunity to access new techniques, data, instruments, and methodologies that might not be available in their home institutions or laboratories. This access not only enriches their own research capabilities but also contributes significantly to the overarching scientific objectives of the relevant COST Action.
The program is designed to support individual mobility, thereby strengthening existing networks and fostering the development of new international collaborations. For the researchers or innovators participating in STSMs, this opportunity is a pathway to acquiring new skills, knowledge, and perspectives, which can have a profound impact on their ongoing research projects. Simultaneously, host institutions benefit from expanding their international contacts and establishing long-lasting collaborative relationships, which can lead to further scientific advancements and discoveries.
